Vacation Camp "Abenteuer Zukunft".

The summer vacations are all about experimenting, exploring and discovering. At “The Campus” in BMW Welt, children aged 6 to 8 and 9 to 12 can experience their vacation in a whole new way. They become inventors who immerse themselves in the world of super materials and future technologies. They learn which languages robots speak, how computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D printing work, test virtual reality and upcycle on innovative recycling machines.

As an overarching project, the children will design their own future vehicle using all the materials and technologies they have learned about. The results are presented to the parents at the end of the camp and can be taken home. The program includes many group and movement games as well as making bracelets from ice cream sticks or flower pots from plastic bottles.

3D printing workshop with Tinkertoys & VR experience

In the 3D printing workshop, children can create products using a 3D printer. The workshop participants become robot experts and are allowed to draw robots with computer assistance in the individual teams and print individual product parts with a 3D printer. In this process, CR glasses are also used to visualize the products virtually. The workshop participants present their constructed robot models and test their function together.

Programming workshop

For the 7-10 years old kids, programming is taught in a very special way and without major hurdles on two dates: the participants dance and paint codes before they gain their first programming knowledge with real little robots: the Ozbots.

School students aged 11 to 13 learn a lot about the BMW Group's production processes, the development of plants and professions from the past to the present, the role played by artificial intelligence (AI) and why the circular economy is so important. In the practical part, they build a robot in small teams using a programmable building block system and thus acquire their first programming skills.

It was just a really good day. Lots of trying things out, experimenting and using machines to make things. Simply cool. A great idea and a completely different way to celebrate a birthday.
