Our society is changing, becoming more diverse and and thus more complex. Growing diversity and participation, especially in future questions, require a forward-looking approach so that polarization does not occur.

How will our society evolve in the future? What responsibility do international companies like the BMW Group have? How can we promote diversity and thus find the best solutions to important social issues for the future?

We look forward to an exciting exchange between BMW Group HR Director Ilka Horstmeier and sociologist and bestselling author Prof. Dr. Aladin El-Mafaalani.

Be there when Prof. Dr. El-Mafaalani gives us an insight into his observations of society and its current and future development.

The year is 2022, and our world is more diverse and colourful than ever before. But discrimination and racism are still an issue in today’s society. How do we create awareness for everyday racism and unconscious bias? And how can we prevent exclusion and discrimination? The best solution is a good dose of humour, says cabaret artist Dave Davis. In his comedy programme, he deals with all of these topics also from his own experiences, holds up a mirror to his audience and makes them laugh out loud while doing so. For the Diversity Week at the BMW Group, we are delighted to welcome Dave Davis to the Future Forum with an exclusive short programme, followed by a fruitful exchange with him, our moderator Flo Akinbiyi and our guests.

Dave Davis grew up as a “Cologne boy” in the Rhineland and discovered his love for the German language and music at a young age. As a musical autodidact (piano, guitar and vocals), young Dave worked on his musical skills every day. His stormy word violence also began during this time.

Inspired by a self-created “bucket list”, i.e. a list of things that you absolutely want to do before you die, the now adult Dave quit his bourgeois job to dedicate himself exclusively to art. Number 4 on his bucket list was, “Testing comedic talent on a public stage in front of at least 50 sober spectators. “The opportunity was found and it worked really well right off the bat. So good that Davis won the renowned Prix Pantheon cabaret prize in 2009 in two categories. Other prizes followed, such as the German Comedy Prize, Tegtmeier's heirs and the Stuttgart broom in gold. Since then, Dave Davis has played on all major stages in Germany and has become an integral part of the German-language cabaret and comedy scene.

In his new solo show “Quiet, Brauner! - Democracy is not for rags,” the self-proclaimed “sunshine generator” is dedicated to German comedy, current topics and the broad overall fabric of our human and political coexistence. Dave Davis calls it his “emergency aid package for Germany disguised as a live show.” Because we humans see ourselves as the last rung of the evolutionary ladder and life could be so simple if it weren't for all the others. Some people let our “aggrocyte level” rise to critical heights and we escalate.
Pandemics, climate change or the rent price explosion are also penetrating our panorama and are truly not suitable as moods. They put our society to the test.

What now? Crisis as a motto? You can do it, but you don't have to. Or would you prefer “Singing In The Rain”? You don't have to, but you should!

Davis responds to his audience with astonishing spontaneity, never winds up a program. His joy of playing is inspiring. In terms of content, Davis deliberately eludes categorization into the areas of cabaret or comedy. What counts for him is holistic entertainment and the commuting between absurdity and biting relevance. Because life always remains political and always crazy.
