Oceans cover about 70 percent of the Earth’s surface. They have a great influence on our climate, as well as the biodiversity of plants and animals. The increasing pollution of the seas, especially from plastic waste, poses a serious threat to this habitat. The aim of the Family Sunday in June is to raise awareness of this problem among younger visitors and come up with possible solutions in an entertaining way. Children and young people have the chance to demonstrate their knowledge on the topics of recycling and sustainable materials in automobile production in an exciting quiz about the BMW i automobiles in the museum. In our creative room, we will present the “The Ocean Cleanup” project. In addition, children can play a game on an app to try to free the ocean of plastic waste. Upcycling is the theme of our craft station, as we make glitter fish and other colourful sea creatures using plastics bottles, old CDs and egg boxes.
