August 2nd 2011 World record: over 300,000 visitors in July.

BMW Welt remains the top tourist attraction in Bavaria. With over 300,000 guests, July 2011 saw the highest number of visitors since inauguration in October 2007. Just shortly after opening, BMW Welt was able to report the record figure of 216,000 visitors in March 2008. In July 2011 this former record has now been topped by almost 45 per cent: 313,458 visitors were counted last month.

Great DTM weekend and Two Wheel Days

The DTM weekend attracted over 38,000 visitors to BMW Welt with a varied program including a motorsport exhibition, the BMW M3 DTM Concept Car and the MINI After Race Party. Another 31,000 came to the Two Wheel Days on the last weekend of July. "We guarantee our guests a truly diverse program, including exhibitions, concerts, family events and of course the experience of the BMW brand. Virtually every day of the year visitors can feel the pulse of the city here at one of Munich's most exciting event locations. This is what makes the BMW Welt so fascinating for visitors - whether local or from anywhere else in the world," says Thomas Muderlak, Head of BMW Welt.

"Welcome to BMW Welt"

A recently published survey conducted by the newspaper Abendzeitung bears out what the BMW Welt the figures show: for tourists from the US, BMW Welt is the most popular attraction in Munich alongside the Hofbräuhaus and the Glockenspiel at Marienplatz. Among the large number of foreigners (32 per cent), the American visitors to BMW Welt were the largest group with 20 per cent.

High level of demand for collection service

BMW Welt also set a record as a collection centre: in July 2011 a total of 2,181 vehicles were handed over to their enthusiastic new owners. Again, there was a high proportion of visitors from the US among the customers collecting their vehicles. A total of 256 new vehicles were received in person at BMW Welt by their new owners from overseas.
