With more than 120 exhibits, the permanent exhibition at the BMW Museum forms the core of the display area. It is located in the low-rise building, a new structure that was added to the BMW Museum in 2008.
The permanent exhibition is divided up according to themes, an arrangement that is also reflected in the architecture: each of the seven major subject areas is allocated to a so-called “House” within the low-rise building and extending over two to three levels.
The permanent exhibition also includes the BMW roadsters, the Visions area and the BMW Art Cars.
As highly emotional vehicles, the BMW roadsters are given a very prominent position – in the central BMW Plaza. A few steps further up, at the foot of the Museum Bowl, is the adjoining Visions area. Here select vehicles demonstrate the pioneering paths towards mobility of the future which the company has traditionally embarked on.
The BMW Museum is the home of the BMW Art Car Collection and there is always at least one of these rolling artworks on show on the first floor. A comprehensive exhibition of these artworks is currently on display in the Museum Bowl.
