As Frank Sinatra famously sang: "if I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere". And today, New York is still the jazz Mecca it has always been. One person whose conquest of the Big Apple is irrefutable is Dan Tepfer. The pianist was born in Paris and enjoyed training in both jazz and classical music (he also holds a degree in astrophysics). He has already won several important American prizes and critic' votes; most recently he was named the best young musician of the year 2010 by JazzTimes.

He has released four trio albums in rapid succession plus a duo album with saxophone legend Lee Konitz, all of which have garnered the highest praise. Above all, although still only 29, Tepfer has succeeded in incorporating a diverse range of influences and jazz idioms in his own personal style and artistic identity. The concert he gives with his trio in the Double Cone at BMW Welt will be his first ever in Germany.

Dan Tepfer Trio from New York is performing on 4th March as part of the BMW Welt Jazz Award 2012 series.

All concerts take place on a Sunday, from 11.00am to 1.30pm in the Double Cone at BMW Welt.
Entry is free and doors are open from 10.30am. Please note that the space is limited and there is no guarantee of a seat.
