Joy builds originals. Out of LEGO®.

2,000 LEGO® pieces. Four days. One construction plan. The task: build a BMW X1 out of LEGO. A full- scale 1:1 model. This was how around 800 children and adults used the BMW Welt as an assembly hall from November 6th - 9th 2009. Families, school classes and pre-school groups got involved hands-on at the BMW Welt Plaza to build the BMW X1 out of LEGO in a joint effort. When things got complicated, LEGO experts and educationally trained care staff were on hand to give the young engineers useful tips and point them in the right direction. After all, it was all about the big picture - and for a good cause, too: according to the motto “Children build for children”, BMW will now make a donation to the children’s aid organisation “Die Arche”. The sum of several thousand euros will go towards providing support for socially disadvantaged children.

The full-scale yellow BMW X1 model will be on show in the automobile exhibition at BMW Welt until November 25th 2009.
