Born in New Orleans, and raised in Chicago and New York, jazz is easily the most widely heard music genre of the 20th century. It owes it popularity not only to its broad variety of styles but also the enormous talents of its major proponents. The enormous and growing enthusiasm that is still shown today for this kind of music is proof enough that it is now time to repeat a special event, first held in 2009: we now present the BMW Welt Jazz Award 2011, this time under the banner of “Two horns and more“.
Over the course of six Sunday matinee concerts, a number of outstanding artists will be performing not only for an audience but also in front of a jury of experts. Each of them will be seeking to qualify for the grand finale, which will feature the two finalists nominated by the jury. The winner of the final round will then be proclaimed the recipient of the BMW Welt Jazz Award 2011. You can now look forward to a wide variety of musical performances featuring exciting interactions on stage between expert horn players, live at BMW Welt.
